Daiva Zemaitis

Music Therapist

Daiva Zemaitis is a Certified Music Therapist (MTA) and Reiki Practitioner (Level lll).

Daiva has supported individuals of all ages, identities, abilities, and life experiences. Daiva has been working as a music therapist since 2018, a Reiki practitioner since 2019, and has led group music making for folks of all ages and abilities for over a decade.

Currently, through music therapy, Daiva supports adults who are experiencing burnout, navigating life transitions, coping with grief, and have other mental health challenges. Daiva also supports neurological populations, such as those recovering from stroke and traumatic brain injury, or are living with dementia.

Music therapy sessions are tailored to client needs and preferences. Following an initial assessment, the client and therapist establish goals that they will work towards during sessions.

Music therapy is a holistic, evidence-based modality that helps people reach non-musical goals through the use of music. It’s about engaging individuals in active and receptive music experiences – singing songs, instrumental or vocal improvisation, songwriting, listening to meaningful songs – so that they can achieve the positive changes they are looking for. Some examples are a decrease in depression and anxiety, stress reduction, and confidence building.

Music therapy is facilitated by a Certified Music Therapist (MTA) who develops a therapeutic relationship with participants based on trust, care, and safety. Everyone is musical because we all have a heartbeat, an internal drummer. So that means you too can experience the benefits of music therapy! When words fail, music speaks.
